MARTA Thanksgiving weekend schedule changes
November 17, 2008 at 6:02 pm by Thomas Wheatley in NewsMARTA is changing bus and train schedules during Thanksgiving weekend. It’s a lengthy list but worth a read if you rely on the city’s transit agency — or have plans to check out the Atlanta Marathon or Macy’s Christmas Tree Lighting.

Thursday, November 27th
MARTA will operate using a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, 2008. North/South trains will run every 20 minutes and East/West trains every 15 minutes. Additional service will be provided in the evening to accommodate the Macy’s Tree Lighting.
Some bus routes will be rerouted to accommodate the Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon and Macy’s Tree Lighting. Please see the reroutes listed below. Visit www.itsmarta.com or contact Customer Service at 404/848-5000 for more information about these reroutes.
Friday, November 28th
Rail and bus will operate using a Saturday schedule. North/South trains will run every 20 minutes and East/West trains every 15 minutes.Saturday, November 29th

Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon
The Atlanta Track Club is sponsoring a marathon on Thursday, November 27, 2008, from 7:30 am until noon. The Marathon will start at Turner Field and travel north on Capitol Avenue and continue on Piedmont Avenue to Peachtree Street. The Marathon will continue on Peachtree Street to the City of Chamblee and return to Turner Field.All bus routes traveling along or crossing over Peachtree Street will be affected and rerouted. Atlanta Police will allow buses to cross Peachtree Street once the roadway is free of runners.
Bus Reroutes: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 13, 16, 17, 18, 21, 23, 27, 36, 42, 45, 49, 55, 74, 99, 110, 113, and 186. Bus routes 23 and 110 will not access Arts Center Station during the Marathon.
Route 23 ARTS CENTER STATION (INBOUND)
Between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. the bus will not access Arts Center Station. Customers will board and disembark at 15TH ST. and PEACHTREE ST.Route 110 PRYOR & WALL (INBOUND)
