Kid Rock insults U.S. troops

KID ROCK: He's upset because a Dekalb County judge doesn't think U.S. troops and roadside garbage are comparable.
“Singer” Kid Rock has lashed out at the Dekalb County judge who sentenced him to 80 hours of community service for his role in an October 2007 Waffle House scuffle.
Mr. Rock asked that the court count his performances for U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East as community service.
The judge said no, pointing out the “singer” should not get community service credit for activities he was already planning on doing.
Kid Rock responded with a self-righteous rant on his web site:
Apparently, he thinks it’s more important that I do something else rather than sing, shake hands and take pictures with the men and women who put themselves in harms way to protect the very freedoms he and all of us live by.
Mr. Rock apparently doesn’t realize that by insisting his performances for U.S. troops be counted against his sentence, he’s comparing the performances to punishment. The whiny little bitch is saying that singing for U.S. troops in Iraq is like a prison sentence, or picking up trash from the side of the road.
Pamela, what were you thinking?

I think you’re stretching things a bit. There are many organizations that adopt a highway because they believe the roads and nature should be clean. There are people who volunteer sorting food at the community food bank because they believe needy people should be able to eat. Just because community service is doled out as punishment doesn’t necessarily mean that it is punishment. I can understand your sentiment but I find it to be a bit of a stretch.

Dude, this isn’t a stretch becacsue it isn’t even inthe universe of reality. Knowing Rocks attitude about the troops, from both public and private comments, he doesn’t consider it punishment and the troops know it. Him trying to get those performances credited to his community service just makes him shrewd.

He’s saying it’s an honor to sing for US troops, then complains that the judge doesn’t count it as punishment.
It can be an honor, or punishment. Not both.

Ever heard of Br’er Rabbitt?

Its this kind of garbage Blogging that makes me sick. People who dont have a clue about Kid Rock and the incredible things he does for others. He has spent the last 3 Christmases with our troops, away from his family and at his own expense. Serving them there Christmas dinner and visiting them in the hospitals. You really need to do some research before you shoot your mouth off.

Personally, I think he should sue you for the title of your blog.

Community service is often not about punishment, but about extracting value for the community in exchange for jail time.
Is it punishment for TI to speak to school kids?
December 4th, 2008 at 12:23 am
I don’t know. Have you heard what TI has been saying to the school kids? When he spoke at Morehouse a few months ago, it wasn’t exactly the best advice for the next generation or anything. He could have improved since then, I don’t know.

T.I.’s sentence thus far has consisted of a PR campaign and album promotion.

That is all I am saying, it isn’t always about punishment. I agree that the value of TI’s speeches is probably not very high.
Word from inside the Rock camp is that the Judge suggested a community service deadline which would be impossible given Rock’s overseas military entertainment committments and that was the reason to suggest that the tour qualify. There is concern that some dates will have to be cancelled in order to fulfill the community service and avoid further legal problems. That makes his statement seem more logical and reasonable.

Why doesn’t this guy just enlist already? He’s really not furthering the success of the war effort with his milquetoast tunes, so strap some flak on him.
His song for the National Guard, “Warrior”, is awful enough anyway that they should just blast it in CIA interrogation camps.

Sorry, Kid’s going over and getting pictures with the troops is just another example of how celebs self promote. IF he really wanted to support the troops, make a friggin sacrifice……join the military (he couldn’t handle it I’m sure. BTW, been there, done that!) contribute $$$ and computers and such so the troops can keep in touch with their FAMILIES which I’m sure they would enjoy more than a concert. Doing what he was already PLANNING isn’t a punishment and punishment is, after all, what the judge was trying to do! Kid is a whuss!
