Silver Scream Spook Show exhumes Mad Monster Party?

The 1969 kiddie flick features stop-motion animation from Rankin/Bass, producers of holiday classics like “Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “The Year Without a Santa Claus.” Parents looking for things to do with the kids will have fresh memories of that trademark “Animagic” animation style. Co-written by Mad Magazine creator Harvey Kurtzmann, the story features a gathering of classic movie monsters like Dracula and Frankenstein and includes voice work from Boris Karloff and Phyllis Dinner. Screening at 1 and 10 p.m. Sat., Dec. 27 at the Plaza Theatre, Mad Monster Party? was a huge influence on Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas:

i’ve been dying to take the kids to the SSSS but most movies so far have been a little scary for my 5 year old. I’m thinking this will be awesome. Does anyone know if the pre movie performance is ok for little kids. My kids are easily freaked i guess. Just trying to avoid severed heads and such.
