Tragic saga of celeb trainer’s beating continues
December 31, 2008 at 4:11 pm by Mara Shalhoup in NewsAs if this story wasn’t horrible enough — a man is beaten into a coma after allegedly trying to protect the mayor’s daughters from being videotaped outside an Atlanta club — now the defendant charged in the attack has committed suicide.
The AJC reported yesterday that Apollo Holmes, who was indicted for aggravated assault and had not yet gone to trial, killed himself on Christmas Day — the eve of the one-year anniversary of the brutal beating. The victim, celebrity trainer Darius Miller, is still in a coma. Mayor Shirley Franklin’s daughters Kai Franklin Graham and Kali Franklin were with Miller and a couple of friends when the fight broke out.
According to the story:
Holmes’ attorney, [Bruce] Harvey, said Tuesday night that Holmes believed he was wrongly accused in the beating. Some witnesses said as many as 10 men attacked Miller that night, although there were never any other arrests made. Harvey said Holmes was ready to take his case before a jury. …
Harvey said Holmes’ suicide has turned a single tragedy into a double tragedy. “We have the tragedy of the man in a persistent coma and now we have the tragedy of a family having to deal with this suicide.”

The article also said that Holes killed himself in Cobb County but the investigation was back in the hands of Atlanta police.
Put this together with the recent settlement between Kai Franklin and the bonding company suing her, just before the case went to trial.
Add to the mix that the AJC buried both stories.
Makes one wonder, doesn’t it?

If you even bothered to read the story in the AJC you would know that the Fulton Co. DA’s office told Darius Miller’s mother that the investigation-of the attempted murder of her son- is being turned back over to the APD because of the Holmes suicide.Holmes was the only person charged because he refused to cooperate with the APD and DA.He knew who helped him brutally attack Darius Miller and threaten his friends. There is no cover up by the mayor, her daughter’s, the APD or the DA’s office. The only people at fault were Apollo Holmes and his thug crew. Get a life, there’s no conspiracy here unless by Apollo Holmes, his family and friends!

Mara, the use of “beat-down” in the title of this article is highly offensive. It’s obvious that you find some sort of sick pleasure in other people’s tragic events. Darius does not deserve this!

Doesn’t this have some relationship to BMF, cause alledgedly during the beatdown Kai was heard yelling BMF……..

BULL! The Franklins started the incident because they didn’t want
to be on camera after court imposed curfew for one of them. Darius Miller tried to strong arm a man by taking his camera and got his azz kicked. His head injury probably came from his own drunken fall. Mr. Miller was not attacked by 10 men and Apollo Holmes would not allow the system to imprison 10 young men because of two tramps and an azzhole that got his self fukked up. Apollo was a great kid with good family, he snapped under the pressure of so much hate towards him but he never turned on his friends to save his own skin from being railroaded by the system.

This incident had nothing to do with BMF, that’s purely mythical, made up by the attackers to distract from their own extreme violent and abhorrent behavior…period! Furthermore, the US Attorney’s office confirmed in DEC 2007 that there was no court imposed curfew at that time (Mara S. as a journalist you should know this). Get your facts straight.

Truth seeker is a liar that has no interest in the truth. He just wants to paint Darius Miller as some kind of hero instead of the zero that he was in trying to strong arm some young people and take their camera. His condition is the result of his own actions. Darius is screwed up, Apollo is dead and the Franklin sisters that started the whole tragedy have silently disappeared. Another lesson in life.

Apollo was a good man in every sense of the word and it was blogs like this and biased media coverage of a man that they didnt even know that drove him to this point. truth seeker does not seek any truth. you only continue to spread harmful bullsh$#. if you know so much you need to step forward and reveal what it is you know.

I am sensitive to the pain that is felt by Darius Millers mother but the fact is he is in this condition as a result of his own irresponsible actions. If the people around Darius’s mother care about him so much they need to stop lieing to his family and his mother about what happened that night. People need to come forward and reveal the truth and stop using Apollo Holmes as a scapegoat for their own wrongdoing, even in his death.

I suggest both of you call the Atlanta Police tip line, (404)577-TIPS (8477), and let them know about this new information you have. This would be much more productive than making allegations on a blog site. Otherwise, you are no better than those who you accuse.

s.dekalb voter stop asumming athorities have not been notified and that actions have not begun to take place. If you are truly interested in the outcome of this case just wait and watch.

This is a fact, Crimnal Kai Franklin and the male company she was with was infact yelling that they were BMF. Why would anybody make that up? No one would have to. These things and her reckless behavior fit her character past and present. The word “beatdown” is offensive to both Darius and Apollo Holmes because it is not truth. No beating took place, point blank period. That is a lie that never shoukd have been told. We have people(for lack of a better word) using these blogs to keep the lie going. These people, I believe were there and know what happen and are ashamed of what they have contributed to. They have lied to Darius Miller’s mother to her face about her son’s condition. They have lied and are continuing to lie on an innocent young productive honest loving MAN and now his little son will grow fatherless. The shame is eating liars alive as well it should. Apollo Holmes was more than willing to share the truth but nobody wanted to hear it. None of you liars would listen. He was never given the right to be presumed innocent before proven guilty. The APD, the DA’s office and the Mayors office all know for a fact that Apollo is innocent, they just dont care. They dont care about Darius or Apollo. This is a cover up. Its a cover up. Think about it.
