Maybe we should send a message to the *criminals* too — and do like Andisheh did for his gun law article, show up sporting sidearms.

Thanks for posting. Burglaries have gone up tremendously the last few months in SE Atlanta. I wish this story surprised me (not that it doesn’t sicken me).
Hope to see lots of neighbors tomorrow for the event!

Violent crimes and break ins have been happening daily through Grant Park and Blvd. Heights…these are hoods that are fighting back and being vigilant…my heart goes out to John’s family, and the Standard family. See you all there in the morning.

Thanks for posting this– now in the time of abbreviated State of the City speeches, a complete lack of discourse by the mayor with the public & city councils focusing on inane baggy jean ordinances, the public has to do something. Fix Zone Six, Shirley.

John was my boyfriends cousin. He was an amazing person and this news is heartbreaking.
I will pass this along to his family.
Thank you for this.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Johns family as well as the bartender who lived through this ordeal. It will be a long recovery for all of you as well as the bar community of atlanta! This is the time to stop bitching about all that has gone in our city and get involved!
this is also a time for business owners who have gotten broken into multiple times to take measures of security into their own hands so this type of shit does not happen!!
