		<description>Dude -- you gotta leave space for a decent intercity rail terminal first.  If you don&#039;t have one, you end up with grossly inconvenient intercity travel forever, with stations located in stupid places.  Like the stupid station location in Atlanta.

Normally this is dealt with by sharing the track approaching downtown.  In Chicago, for example, intercity, long-distance commuter and in-city rapid transit used to all use the same tracks.  I really don&#039;t understand why this isn&#039;t considered possible anymore.</description>

You gotta go internal mass transit before you do intercity transit.  Think about it:  Who wants to take a train from Charlotte (or anywhere else) to Atlanta if the only place you can (feasibly) go on Marta is Buckhead?  

Make ATL a livable, walkable community, then worry about intercity trains.
