ACC Tournament: NC State can’t quite upset Maryland; Boston College beat Virginia boringly

March 12, 2009 at 11:36 pm by Besha Rodell in Sports

Man, that was an upset I would have liked to see. In the first half of the NC State/Maryland game, it looked as though State might win by double digits. But no such luck.

I’m sad to see them go — I love NC State. If Duke is the evil rich kids of the conference and UNC are the populist pets, NC State is the scrappy underdog I’m always pulling for. Unless they’re playing UNC of course. But I’d rather see State beat UNC than anyone else. I like Sidney Lowe and his ridiculous red jackets. I like McCauley, and Fells is a beast.

I’m finding being a quiet journalist quite difficult. I want to yell and jump up and down. When Carolina plays tomorrow I might be in trouble.

By the middle of the Boston College/Virginia game the Dome is mainly empty. Half the reporters who’ve stayed look like they’re nodding off. It doesn’t help that this game wasn’t exactly exciting. Boston College will be taking on the evil rich kids tomorrow night.
