So the City is voting Monday on putting a new Amtrak line through my home and the home of all my Marietta Street neighbors! Thank you Loaf reporters - this is the only way I would have known.

Like so many other Atlantans, I hope Go is right that things now bode well for the Beltline. And that the Beltline management will now focus on making the right decisions and investments in transit, affordable housing, and parks that will enable the project to proceed in positive directions. Much time and energy have been wasted due to missteps and unnecessary distractions.

This is great news. In response to Concerned Citizen, as a longtime observer of cities, the "unexpected" issues that have arisen with the Beltline are not so unexpected. Anytime a project of this scale (the largest urban redevelopment project in the country I believe) is attempted there are any number of crises that will momentarily consume the project and call it into question. The fact that the Beltline seems to prevail every time is a testament to its vision and Atlantans' recognition of how vital it is for the future of the city. I think this whole episode bodes very well for the future of the project and I am very encouraged and optimistic.

Sounds like good--and needed--news for the BeltLine. But it is weird how the project keeps running into unexpected obstacles, only to have to scramble for a solution. Is this the result of bad planning or bad luck? Maybe we can at long last get going on achieving the promises of the BeltLine (at least until the next unexpected crisis arises).
