Gay Republicans to Shirley: Quit, please
May 28, 2009 at 3:32 pm by Andisheh Nouraee in NewsAtlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin is once again the target of angry, metaphorical hunks of wood.
Southern Voice reports the gay G.O.P. group Georgia Log Cabin Republicans has called for Franklin’s resignation.
The latest rash of murders, robberies, hate crimes, and lawlessness are a direct result of her failure to provide proper protection by an effective police force . . [w]e are also urging Governor Sonny Perdue to take control of the situation, and requesting that he order in the Georgia National Guard or Georgia State Patrol into Atlanta to help stabilize the current crime mayhem in the city.”
I’m pretty sure they mean Perception of Crime Mayhem.

Good for them. I am neither gay, nor Republican, but I totally agree with them. Our city is out of control and Shirley has yet to address the issue with citizens. he is just bidding her time till she is out of office and on to some cushy job. She is useless and needs to go NOW. And I voted for her twice! yikes.

I *think* four very popular restaurants/bars were relieved of their TVs this morning, but this perception vs reality thing has me all messed up…

I hardly think the National Guard needs called. The Log Cabin Republicans are a nonsensical group of self loathing idiots. They are grasping at straws for some publicity.

If I ‘perceive’ that Andrew is taking this conversation in the direction he would like to go, does that make it not true? Still confused.

Typical Republican’t overreaction. I’m surprised that the Log Cabinettes didn’t also claim that someone was hiding WMDs in the Old Fourth Ward.
Then again, to me the phrase “Gay Republican” makes as much sense as “Jews For Allah!” or “Hindu Steakhouse”…

It’s always about Shirley. And her teflon is winning again! Where is the focus on injured police who are being screwed by the City? On disappearing tax revenues? On a foundering BeltLine? On a city totally broke and broken?
