Photo of the Day: War yes, health care no?

August 18, 2009 at 10:18 am by TL Pixley in Photography

Thousands of people, led by WSB Talk show Host Herman Cain, came to Atlanta’s Olympic Park to protest Obama’s health care plans Aug. 15. Waving American flags and holding signs calling Obama a dictator, health care advocates socialists and equating government health care with certain death for Americans, the Tea Party crowd continued its offensive against the Obama administration. Many members of the crowd bragged to this reporter about not having health insurance. One member of the panel even went so far as to argue that life expectancy was a poor judge of a country’s health care (US ranks 50th in the world). One hundred percent of the people interviewed were pro government spending billions of dollars on war but against government spending billions of dollars on health care.

that would be billions on war and trillions on health care. :-)

One of the fundamental problems with the arguments of ‘government will be spending trillions on health care’ is that this money is *already* being spent in the costliest, most mis-managed, and least ‘bang for the buck’ program in the world.

People are acting as if the choice is between ‘government spending millions’ or no spending.

The money is coming out of the GDP, and every single person who *has* health insurance is paying for those who don’t, but in an extremely inefficient manner.

Those people who bragged about no health insurance coverage – of course they don’t care. If they judge themselves sick, they just have to show up at an Emergency Room, and a hospital is forced to treat them (in the most expensive manner possible – an ER setting).

Start denying these people w/o health insurance at the hospital door, and see how quickly the tune changes.

Amazing, isn’t it? How much you want to bet this becomes a talking point?

That gentleman’s Rolle Fingers mustache completely voids any political statements he might make. He has three options: a pitching career for the athletics, creepy molester, or circus ring leader.

    PS
    Nice fucking hat Indy.

  5. DaleC Says:

Scott – so you think that citizens spending money on health care is the same as the government spending tax money?

And you think the Fed will do it more efficiently?

  6. Nimish Says:

Most us don’t care for big government and most realize government is a train wreck, but the same people who bitch about the government in their pocket books over health care, would shit in their pants if the government said:

“Effective January 1st, 2010, anyone under age 50, we will no longer deduct 7.65% of your wages for Social Security and Medicare. That’s right, we are leaving your pockets and reducing your taxes. Now, of course, you must save for your own retirement and health care and you are responsible for all of your income and health expenses until the day you die”.

I bet you most Americans would want the government back if this happened !! Most Americans are too dumb to save and retain money for their future !

From your lips to God’s ear.

Question – are they going to return my contributions to date?

BTW, if you are self-employed, the deduction is 15.3%.

  8. HCL3 Says:

    Nimish –

What you describe would be 100% fine with me.

Just because some people are too stupid or irresponsible to save for their own retirement and their own health care does not mean you should penalize the vast majority that are responsible to carry water for the deadbeats.
