Could Casey Cagle finally get an opponent?

Carol Porter, who’s been urged to for LG, schedules a press conference

People have been chattering for weeks that Carol Porter, wife of House Minority Leader and  Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dubose Porter, should jump in the race for lieutenant governor. (Incumbent Casey Cagle, as of this writing, has no competition for the statewide seat. He originally hoped to run for governor, but dropped out of that race after his back acted up.)

Carol, who manages the family’s newspaper chain, has been coy about the prospect. But we might finally find out her plans.

She’s scheduled a press conference for 11 a.m. tomorrow at the Gold Dome. It could be one of those “after being urged to run by many of my friends, I feel it would not be in the best interests of my family” kind of things. Or it could be the first sign that Cagle won’t waltz into another term.
