Erick Erickson believes in evolution

Conservative blogger says his days of calling people Marxist, Nazi, bestia-pedophiles is over, sort of.

Georgia conservative megablogger Erick Erickson believes in evolution. His own, anyway.

Now that he’s a CNN regular, he’s kinda-sorta distancing himself from the nasty, personal attacks and namecalling that helped make him famous enough for CNN to hire in the first place.

On Saturday, Erickson appeared on CNN’s Reliable Sources to explain how the new Erick Erickson is way less likely to call a sitting Supreme Court Associate Justice a goat-fucking child molester than the old Erick Erickson.

Erickson’s explanations when CNN host Howard Kurtz read aloud some of his nasty comments:

“I probably shouldn’t have said that.”

“Back during the campaign trail . . . I was very passionate, very aggressive in defending my side.”

“I’ve definitely evolved over time.”

“About the dumbest thing I’ve done.”

“I had to grow up.”

“I’ve definitely had to grow up over time and realize and realize it’s not just me and friends anymore. I think everyone understands you talk in ways with friends and about things with friends you don’t in public.”

Note that none of those expressions of regret even approached an apology. In fact, the closest thing to real regret he expressed was for the effect the comments had on him and his family.
