Roy Barnes, David Poythress campaigns hit airwaves

Democratic gubernatorial candidates release TV ads for rural Georgia market

Now that state lawmakers have called it a year, Democratic gubernatorial candidates can begin the wonderful pastime of slamming Republicans on TV.

The first campaign commercials we’ve seen from the Democrats come courtesy of David Poythress and Roy Barnes. Each spot’s pretty folksy. Poythress addresses the viewers while he stands in front of a covered bridge, which is a metaphor for rebuilding the economy. In Barnes’ video, the former governor speaks to the audience while seated on a church pew, which might be a metaphor for more transit. (Or these might just be ways to connect with voters. We still don’t know.)

We’re posting two of the videos here because, according to the campaigns, the commercials will only air in the South Georgia market. After the jump, your Monday dose of donkey cinema.
