Mayor Franklin wants your kid’s green ideas
Thursday, March 13th, 2008Mayor Shirley Franklin is urging Atlanta’s “future leaders” to submit ideas for a contest showing how to live a greener life.
The goal of the Stepping Lightly in Atlanta Awards contest is to empower students to be advocates for a sustainable environment in their own community. Students are invited to submit entries for model projects that demonstrate how they have reduced their ecological footprint in their home, class, school or community. Students can choose from a variety of environmental topics to concentrate on such as water conservation, organic gardens, waste reduction, energy and transportation.
Guidelines and submission rules are available here. Deadline for the contest is March 28.
