Lou Dobbs resigns from CNN

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

CNN fixture Lou Dobbs made a surprise on-air announcement today by resigning from the network.

The backlash that followed Dobbs’ outspoken views on immigration and promotion of the delusional birther contingent will be mentioned ad nauseam in the coming days as the reason for his exit.  Liberals and Latinos will cheer.  The Media Matters crew are losing, going on a scavenger hunt for and then losing their shit yet again in celebration.

Everyone will assume a spot for Dobbs is waiting on Fox News alongside Hannity, O’Reilly and Beck. Maybe it will be.  Conservatives will cheer.

But does it matter?  Does Dobbs matter?  Do any cable news talking heads matter anymore now that everyone has gone all-in on their talking head of choice?

Full text of Dobbs’ statement here and video here of his departure.

Atlanta ‘Real Housewife’ star dating ‘Girls Gone Wild’ CEO

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Ugh. Another impressive clip to add to my “published articles” file. But here goes.

According to Fox News:

On the topic of new couples, Tarts has been told that “Real Housewives of Atlanta” starlet Kim Zolciak has just started dating “Girls Gone Wild” founder Joe Francis. The two were spotted getting particularly cozy in Park City over the weekend and even shared the same house at the film festival …

The commenters at Access Atlanta say Kim looks like a “hot mess.” More details on this earth-shattering story to come. Meanwhile, the state might cut more jobs to make up for a $2 billion deficit. And President Barack Obama, now in his third day in office, announced yesterday he would close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay.

I’ve upset Fox News host Alan Colmes

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

Twice in recent days, I’ve left comments on Peach Pundit comparing the blog’s loudest “liberal” contributor to Fox News’ “liberal” personality Alan Colmes. Both are ineffectual foils whose tone and personalities discredit liberal viewpoints in front of largely conservative audiences.

Alan Colmes apparently reads Peach Pundit because last night he e-mailed me twice.

In the first e-mail, he asked me how often I watch Fox’s “Hannity & Colmes” or listen to his radio show. I replied that I don’t listen to his radio show, but I do watch “Hannity & Colmes” frequently, not regularly.

A second e-mail from Colmes arrived minutes after he was on-air speaking to Karl Rove. It said simply:

If you were more familiar with my work you probably would have written more favorably.
