This guy busted out some moves to get the Lust List party started. Lust Listers blessed us normal folk with their presence during the Creative Loafing party at Halo on Feb. 15.

Jan. 28, 2010, 4:44 p.m. 17th and Spring Streets
Atlanta artist Josie Bloom painted the base coat of a mural that would span the entire length of a massive outside wall on Jan. 28. She paints murals all over Atlanta and says it generally takes her about a week to complete a piece this big. I liked the sense of her being afloat in world of purple as she attacked such a big project all on her own.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I walked into B Boy World Evolution IV at the Relapse Theatre on Dec. 6, but I definitely walked out glad to have experienced the whole intense event. Seven countries’ teams of breakdancing phenoms battled it out onstage for a $25,000 cash prize and for the world champion title and trophy. I was shocked to find out that several countries’ governments like Korea and Japan actually sponsor their teams to travel around the world and bring home the glory of titles like this.
The whole vibe was exactly like the recent spat of dance-themed movies would lead you to believe — graffiti-covered spaces filled to capacity with hyped tracksuit-clad masses. This was Atlanta’s first year hosting the international championship and I hope they plan a return because, even for this photographer who has no breaking skills, that was the most excitement I’ve seen in awhile.

This photo is from one of the more colorful dance pieces in Incarnation, Dance 101 Studio’s recent showcase. I love shooting dance in all its varied forms, but I’ve found that dance in silhouette is just so beautiful. And occasionally odd enough as to be amusing.

Carrie Couch, an Atlanta dancer and dance teacher, teaches a whacking workshop at the Atlanta Street Dance Jam Pt 2. The day of workshops followed by a night of hip hop dance battles was hosted by Erupture Dance Tournaments on July 11 at the Take Hold dance studio in Miami Circle.
