Carrie Couch, an Atlanta dancer and dance teacher, teaches a whacking workshop at the Atlanta Street Dance Jam Pt 2. The day of workshops followed by a night of hip hop dance battles was hosted by Erupture Dance Tournaments on July 11 at the Take Hold dance studio in Miami Circle.

The Pic: Do The Right Thing

Spike Lee answered questions in a sometimes fiesty exchange with reporters at the Landmark Room at the Fox Theater in Atlanta on July 11. Lee was on hand for the the Atlanta Film Festival’s celebration of the 20th anniversary of Do the Right Thing, which was shown at the Fox as part of the Coca-Cola Film Festival.

This photo was taken on what could be any random beautiful sunny day at Gwinnett County’s Mountain Park Skatepark. The amount of nameless, dedicated talent found throughout the area can make an unplanned trip to the park very fruitful— when I remember to bring my camera.

The Pic: Sleeping on CL

I was out for a lunch time stroll with my camera, taking random shots, when I came upon this image. To me it reiterated the plight of homelessness, mental illness and how people under those conditions and circumstances can find solace in what we as “normalized” (what is normal?), functioning people find awkward and uncomfortable.
This shot was taken on July 2009 by the old Coca-Cola pavilion near Underground.
