I ain’t eating at Quan 306

November 13th, 2007 by Cliff Bostock in Food media, Restaurants

I’ve eaten some pretty bizarre stuff over the years, but I think Matt Richardson of RowdyFood.com has passed me by a mile with his report on Quan 306 in Norcross. This is a karaoke bar and cafe. Matt’s Vietnamese friend arranged for some special treats, the photos of which I dare you to look at. Click here.

Matt has also visited Apartment E, a private Mexican “restaurant” in, um, an apartment — not to be confused with Apartment D, a similar enterprise. Check his report out here.

This reminds me of Annie Keith’s, the soul-food restaurant quite illegally operated in a house near Creative Loafing’s old offices off Ralph McGill many years ago. Rumor was that Annie was related to the mayor of the time and nobody dared interfere with her livelihood — including the many cops who ate there.

Apt E looks great! Who needs to drive to Buford Hwy when there’s authentic grub in midtown! Who doesn’t like bagged salsa and back alley pork?
As for the soul food ‘resto’, there was one on Boulevard Place not so far from CL’s old office as well. Cliffy, you would have loved the fwied chicken big mama cooked every sunday.

-sounds very similar to a burger shack off of memorial.

I’m wondering if the people at Apartment E really wants this to be public. They better move to Apartment F if they have not already done so. How dumb can you get telling the world about it to get attention to fuel your freaky ego.

The first rule of fight club…

Durian milkshake?! “Retch!” The horror. I think that made me more sick than the balut- The stench had to be like a horse’s corpse!

I don’t think Matt was looking to “fuel his freaky ego.” Besides, what are the cops gonna do? Raid every Apt E in the city?
