Radio, T.V. and Valentine’s Day
February 12th, 2008 by Besha Rodell in Events, Food media, RestaurantsI don’t know how I became the spokeswoman for Valentine’s Day in Atlanta, but somehow everyone wanted my opinion on where to eat for the schlock-fest holiday. Honestly, it’s one of those days I’d rather stay out of restaurants. It’s probably the busiest day of the year, anxiety is high, and servers are harried. But I couldn’t miss the opportunity to shout out to some great restaurants when the chance presented itself. So last week when WABE-FM (90.1), Atlanta’s NPR station asked me to go on to talk about Valentine’s Day, I complied. Then, this morning, Fox Atlanta aired a story about progressive dinners using my recommendations. You can check out the story here.

I heard you on NPR the other day and was in agreement about what you said about dining on VD Day. Although it is generally characterized as “amateur night” by everyone in the service industry, I am lucky enough to be out of the industry and get to enjoy this night for myself. And taking your suggestion, I am staying away from the typical trendy date night spots and opting for my local joint – Carroll Street Cafe. It’s got good food, close to home, intimate for two, and perfect for VD Day.
