Big bummer

I made my usual bee-line for Zocalo in Grant Park Tuesday night and found it closed — permanently closed, judging by the disarray visible through the windows.
This follows the closing of the Zocalo in Decatur, leaving only the original 10th Street location open.
I am going to have major withdrawal from the taqueria’s al pastor quesadillas and the chile relleno tacos.

dammit all … I wonder what the prob was, location? Because the food was reasonably priced and spot-on. Maybe still too ‘onions & cilantro’ for this area’s tastes

I’ll be missing those veggie refried beans for a long time. This was a great place for us to bring our little boy for some affordable, authentic tacos and more intown, especially since Taqueria del Sol has no high chairs but this place did.
They also had the best fish taco I’ve ever had, even better that El lRey del Taco’s, IMO.
Why did this have to happen at a time when gas prices make driving up Buford Hwy for authentic Mexican cuisine unattractive? Poo.

No way!
And to think that their portions were just getting to be reasonable for the prices. What a bummer indeed.

That is sad. While their tortillas left much to be desired, the pastor was the most authentic tasting version in the city.

They probably closed due to all the new Mex competition in EAV. Also, I was never that impressed with them. The size of their tacos were considerably smaller than others.
Please, please, please, someone put a decent Asian rest. (preferably Vietnamese) in that space! If I had some bhan mi nearby, I’d be a happy man.

How unhappy! They will be missed by many, for sure. I’m glad I got my pastor fix somewhat recently… Cliff, can you find some other, comparable pastor nearby?

Dammit, where am I supposed to get my pastor and chicharron de queso fix now? This stinks.

Go to Mi Barrio, It’s one million percent better, and they serve cerveza, Zocolo didn’t.

Supposedly Las Tortas Locas has al pastor on a spit just like Zocalo Taqueria did
