New sushi bar opens in Luckie-Marietta District
October 14th, 2008 by Cliff Bostock in RestaurantsRise Sushi Lounge has opened in the Luckie-Marietta District at 300 Marietta St. (404-477-0947). The owner-chef is Tony Wang. Details from the Reynolds Group:
After completing a three-year culinary tutelage in Japan under Chef Yamatason, one of the most highly decorated sushi chefs in the world, Chef Tony Wang earned recognition as a master sushi chef. Following completion of his training, Chef Wang opened Ginza Japanese Steak and Sushi in Peachtree City, where he developed a loyal following for more than a decade. In 2001, he decided to sell the restaurant and has been developing ideas for his latest concept—Rise Sushi Lounge….
Jay George of G-6 Design has created a clean modern design for Rise… When walking into the restaurant, guests will see backlit gossamer curtains over painted natural brick walls, warm dark wood tables, hardwood floors and furnishings upholstered in deep green fabric. A full service bar is fronted by a black granite sushi bar top and 360-degree seating….The dining room and lounge, which seat approximately 100-120, face an open kitchen.
The menu will change seasonally with an emphasis on those ingredients that are caught or harvested regionally. Signature dishes include Chef Wang’s lobster roll and a sesame roll filled with fresh tuna, coated in sesame seeds, flash fried and served with cream sauce. The cuisine will be complemented by a full selection of warm and cold sakes, an array of signature flavored sakes, premium tea and coffee preparations, international wines and a full bar.

I went last night and had a great time, and enjoyed everything about the restaurant and what they had to offer. I even reconnected with the GM, Andy who used to manage the Vinings Inn in Atlanta….
great place to visit anytime of the week. I’d recommend to anyone.
