Gossip about Flip and Lamplighter

January 25th, 2009 by Cliff Bostock in Gossip, Restaurants

I haven’t confirmed it, but I heard from a reliable source this evening that the Holy Taco folks in East Atlanta Village have inquired about taking over the Grant Park location that was most recently Lamplighter. The source said Carmen Cappello, the chef-owner of Lamplighter, will not be reopening at the location, despite earlier announcements he would start a burger operation…

Speaking of burgers, Richard Blais reports that three new locations of Flip will open in the next year — one in Washington, DC; one on the east side of Atlanta; and one in another city yet to be determined.

C’mon – Holy Taco? Really? I would so much rather hear that Taqueria Del Sol was going in there. Lamplighter will be missed.

  3. KYS Says:

Will the Holy Taco folks be sticking to the SHAMEBURGER concept? That concept is gold I tell you. GOLD!

  4. General Zod Says:

Just scrapple the whole idea… that location is nothing but theft and death.

  5. Taco'd to death Says:

We do not need another tacos joint or another mexican or Tex-Mex or burrito place anywhere in this city, especially E. ATL/GP. We’re overrun with poor quality. Holy Taco is quite good though, expensive but good. Try that piece of heaven they call the Pork Belly Torta. It’s sublime!

But leave that space open for a while until the City can protect it’s citizens and businesses.

  6. Peter Griffin Says:

    scrapple = crapple

    Holy Taco EXPESIVE???
Let me know where you are eating good tacos for cheaper than Holy Taco

  8. Taco'd to death Says:

Well the tacos at Taqueria, La Casita, and Blue Frog for starters. And WHO charges for chips? $2 per salsa – which are all bland. $8 margaritas? And a $10 organic margaritas where the only thing organic about them is agave nectar? What about the limes? the tequila? shouldn’t those be organic too? I think my BLT is vegetarian too, it has vegetarian lettuce, bread and tomatoes, I just don’t count the bacon.

Wanker is the owner, he likes to spam every discussion board in town with free advertising.

  10. wanker Says:

not free advertising I like to keep an eye on what people like and don’t like about what we are doing
I’m not the only wanker out there, I do, when its me identify myself

    Thanks

  11. wanker Says:

organic margarita came about because Partida called one of their cocktails that and our customers wanted a cheaper version of it so we started making them with less expensive tequila 100% agave but not organic, the name stuck thanks to our regulars
All that in them is fresh lime juice organic agave nectar splash of water and silver tequila

i thought i heard that the guys from ONE FLEW SOUTH have aquired the space where lamplighter was?
