I'm pretty sure Open Table's rankings are not based on a straight vote of "What do you think is the best overall restaurant in Atlanta" or anything like that. I think it's an average of rankings of people who have dined there, so 5 diners giving an average rating of 4.1 stars would be a higher ranking than 50 diners with an average of 4.0 stars (I assume there is a minimum number of diners). Diners usually rate restaurants relative to other restaurants they know, so in areas where there is lower density of high quality restaurants (Duluth, St. Simons, etc), ratings will be higher than if the same restaurant was in, say midtown Atlanta.

What is truly mindblowing about this is that enough people have even been there to vote for it. If i was to ask 10 people in my office if they have been to St. Simons in the last 5 years maybe one would say yes and it would be me (wedding). The melting pot thing is just pathetic.
