Georgia Sunday Sales bill dies
March 4th, 2009 by Thomas Wheatley in NewsThe AJC’s James Salzer reports state Sen. Seth Harp, R-Midland, has withdrawn the bill that would allow cities and counties to decide if they wanted stores to be able to sell booze on the Sabbath. He says it didn’t have enough votes to pass:
The committee was supposed to vote on the bill Wednesday, but supporters knew by the time the meeting began that they wouldn’t have enough votes to pass it.
It marked the third consecutive year the bill to allow Sunday sales has stalled in the Senate.
Sen. Seth Harp (R-Midland), said he would bring the bill back up in the future and supporters hinted they would make it a campaign issue next year.

If you want alcohol on Sunday, do what everyone else does. Either load up at the Liquor Store on Saturday or go to the bar on Sunday. It’s not that hard, people!

K-Dogg, it should be people’s right to choose whether or not they want to purchase alcohol on a Sunday instead of going to a bar.
And loading up on a Saturday? Sure, that’s completely applicable, but one shouldn’t have to if they choose not to.

The problem I have with this withdrawal is that most people want to be able to buy alcohol on sundays…so who these senators and representatives believe they are representing? I dont get it, they’re elected, right?
Common-sense people know the state can use all the money it can get right now, its safer to buy alcohol at the store and go home than go out and drink, then drive home, as is the only way to get a beverage on sundays now and most people do alot of their grocery shopping sunday, so it would save time and money to be able to do it all at once. Sonny Purdue is a nut job saying he would veto it…he doesnt do anything…no solution for water crisis, taking forever to help us with our gas shortage last fall, which kept our prices higher for longer, etc. I hope voters dont forget this stuff come election time
