Broderick has the pictures
March 25th, 2009 by Cliff Bostock in RestaurantsThe incomparable Broderick was on hand to photograph tonight’s opening of Varasano’s. Check out his pictures.
Can you spot the image of the Virgin Mary amid the tomato sauce?

See Cliff, this is the post that pisses me off … how are mortals like you and I supposed to compete with pictures like that!

He can take average snapshots and make them art. On top of all that, B is one hell of a cool cat.

Great shots Broderick!
FB- I agree, his shots give a cross between wonder and a feeling of crushing defeat (my shots will never look that good)

What I love about Broderick’s pics are the way they communicate the scene as much as the food. Now, I’m waiting for him to do some shots in a disagreeable spot, like a fast food joint. I have a feeling they would be a great mix of irony and tragedy.
@foodiebuddha: I taught Broderick everything he knows about cameras.
@dirty: Your photography is very good too.

THE SECOND COMING IS HERE!
THE SECOND COMING IS HERE!
I heard Chuck Norris wears Varasano underwear.
This pizza better be good or I’m not reading another one of your bloggies’ (foodie bloggers) “articles” ever again!

Just got done eating two pizzas at Varasano’s: the margherita and the Salumi. Both were great. They lived up to your pics. I cannot recall having had better in Atlanta–not that the competition is especially tough.

Crap. It didn’t open soon enough for me to go.
Sure looks yummy though.

I didn’t see the virgin Mary but then again I’m an atheist. I went for the first time tonight, and really was impressed.
The music was way too loud and with the acoustics and high ceiling, they could really turn it down a few notches.
While the pizza was the best I’ve had in the US, my French partner sums it up with “Il y a trop de bruit et la pizza est banale.”
I loved my pizza but the center was a bit soggy so the sauce or mozarella were doing something to water it down, near the edges it got better. The tomato sauce was OK but again Mr. French thinks it came from a can.
Since we live right across the street, I plan to try again and hope that I see an improvement because this is already really good.
Mais il y a trop de bruit.
