This just appeared as Riccardo Ullio’s Facebook status:
Cuerno will be closing its doors this Sunday, so for all of you that have enjoyed dining there in the past, please stop by this weekend for a farewell.
No word yet on the reason for the closing.

I’m shocked – that was a great place. the parking was always a problem though… sure wish he’d open it up somewhere else if that was the problem.

Met a few friends there for wine, and they were already seated and eating when I arrived with a friend. Since we had already eaten earlier, we only wanted to order split a dish to go with our wines, so we ordered the Vegetable Paella… I thought it was about $18 on the menu so I was shocked when we were charged $36. it was a small pan of RICE. and VEGETABLES. and mediocre at that. I asked the waiter about this and he was kind of condescending when he pointed out it was $18 PER PERSON, which was not really clear on the menu. for something delicious or with seafood/meat maybe its fine, but just rice and vegetables and a food cost of like $2? did I mention it was small, and unfortunately bland, and $36? I felt kinda ripped off… we never went back.

I hate to see any restaurant fail, but I too had a pretty awful paella there, with woefully overcooked seafood (no, mussels are not supposed to be chewy) and a whole lotta attitude from the front end staff. I never went back and my partner was very vocal in his dissatisfaction. Perhaps Mr. Ullio took his eye off the ball on this one…

Too bad you didn’t get past paella on a Spanish menu. The rest of the menu was authentic and delicious.

even with a great review from besha (4 stars), the restaurant still could not stay open.
