The end of Trois as we know it

June 12th, 2009 by Besha Rodell in Gossip, News, Restaurants

I heard a rumor this morning that Trois, Concentrics’ glittering French restaurant in Midtown, will be closing within the week.  Calls to the restaurant and the restaurant’s PR rep garnered a lot of “no comment”s (although PR rep Jill Caramella at the Reynolds Group promised more information by the end of the day). But we were able to find three separate sources who told us, off the record, that the downstairs bar will stay open, probably serving food, while the upstairs dining room is “re-branded”. We’re told that concept, price point and decor will all be changed. It will no longer be Trois.

We’ll keep you posted as the official word comes down.

No surpise there, overpriced and underseasoned food. The bar is the only good thing and that shouldn’t change.

I had a friend who was training as a pastry chef there. I wonder if she ended up at another Concentrics restaurant.

Rebranding/remodeling Trois is a good idea. I was never impressed with the interior or the overall vibe of the dining room there. Very bland. And the last evening I was there the place was almost empty.

Didn’t have any complaints about the food, though. I’ll miss having a decent French option on that Midtown Peachtree corridor.

We live near by and Trio’s departure will be a loss. Dinner there with after dinner drinks at the Four Season’s and piano was always a great time.

  5. John Says:

The food there was always terrible. The bar food was passable. The PR machine was best.

Is it like the “Re-Branding” they did at Piebar?

As in sell out to the highest bidder? Let’s face it Bob and his cronies thought they were the second coming of the resto-christ.

    Not

    Dearest meh,
I am told (although, again, I have had no official word and PR folks did not get me any info by the end of the day yesterday as they said they might) that Concentrics is staying in the space. My sources say there are no plans to sell whatsoever.

once the 14th street bridge construction is complete, that space will be hopping. i would not pull a “piebar”

the construction has definitely affected the businesses on that street.

I can verify only that….after going to a job interview a few blocks from Trois on Wednesday, I happened to walk past Trois lower level bar on my way back to Arts Center Station. Peering through the windows I could see the cooks and the rest of the kitchen staff having a meeting. None of them looked at all happy to say the least. I guess management was breaking the news to them.
