Do you want to be a TV foodie?
July 7th, 2009 by Cliff Bostock in Food mediaTake cover! I can hear the bloggers beginning to stampede. This is from Dora Burke at WXIA:
WXIA-TV is launching a weekly dining segment, “Metromix Meals,” during its “Atlanta and Company” daytime show. The segment airs every Wednesday, 11a.m.– 12 noon.
Here’s how it works: Each week we bring on three everyday people to discuss their favorite restaurant in the greater Atlanta area. Individuals self-nominate themselves and their favorite establishment. Once selected, we engage two other regular viewers to dine at the first person’s recommendation anonymously. During the show, everyone comes back together to discuss their dining experiences.
If you are a foodie and like talking about food and dining out, we would love to have you on air. You would need to be available during the daytime for taping.
Please email your contact information, age and a photo (low resolution) with a list of your top three or four restaurants in Atlanta and why to atlantameals@gmail.com.

Ha, I doubt any of the bloggers I’ve met would consider this.

This sounds like fun to me…not a food blogger but have worked at more places then I can even remember!

I would not take as credible any recommendation I saw on a local talk show – especially from a station with a reputation for producing sensationalist, negative stories about some really great restaurants (e.g. the Ming’s debacle).
And seriously – the 11AM – 12PM TV watching demographic? How would good food ever compete with the commercials for Red Lobster and Personal Injury Lawyers?
