Cheap Eats: Myung Ga Won

MARINATE ON THIS: The marinated short ribs at Myung Ga Won

It’s some ungodly hour and you need food. Unfortunately, Atlanta’s intown late-night dining options are limited unless you want greasy eggs and something of the scattered variety. You do have options if you deign to drive to Duluth, however. Yes, Duluth, where there is an infinite variety of cuisines, new restaurants opening every day, and plenty of spots that cater to night owls. What more can you ask for? One of my newest finds, Myung Ga Won (1960 Day Drive, Suite 100, Duluth, 770-622-1300, www.mk1usa.com), serves exceptional Korean cuisine and is open 24 hours a day.

Tucked away in a small strip mall just off I-85, Myung Ga Won’s colorful — and slightly retro — façade looks more like a bowling alley than a dining establishment. And the last thing you’d expect is the contemporary décor touches like the lightboxes that pepper the dining room and the retro-modern revival wooden panels in various shades of orange and brown. This has to be one of the most upscale Korean restaurants in Atlanta.

“Infinitesimal” variety of cuisines? Is that what you meant to say? That it was almost an infinitely small variety?

Is it too late to edit this for the print version? I hope not.

  2. Foodgeek Says:

Well, OK, that’s better, but not much. The number of cuisines available in the city of Duluth is many and varied, but it’s far from “infinite.” They can, in fact, be counted, and I could probably even count them all in a single day, leaving me the rest of infinite time to do something else.

I probably would have said something like, “seemingly infinite,” but at least the error isn’t quite so glaring now.

    Marquee Moon,

As much as I find it flattering that, after some 4 years have passed since I turned you down for a date, you still find me worthy of cyber-stalking, my future husband really does not appreciate you impersonating him.

Perhaps you could find something more productive to do with your extra time? Your fiance could proably use some help planning the wedding, or better yet, perhaps you could proofread her articles for her? Proofreading is not, as witnessed in the helpful link that you provided above, a sign of a personality disorder in any way. It’s actually a valuable service that publications employ to avoid embarrassment.

    Just trying to help.

  5. Foodgeek Says:

And yes, I just noticed the typo that I just made, and noted the irony. No need to point it out.

Jezuz FoodGeek, now that AC is gone do you really need to bring your Drama over here? No this is not Moon.

Comming over to CL to post grammar corrections………..

  7. Foodgeek Says:

    Hi Kit!

No, no drama here. I just wanted to help out BG and keep her from embarrassing herself in the print edition with such a puzzling error. After all, what would an “infinitesimal” variety of cuisines actually be? Like, smaller than one? Thankfully, the print edition turned out error free! A job well done!

Feel free to call upon my copy editing services in the future. :)

    Julia,

Stop dragging me into your pathetic school yard drama for the last time. I do NOT comment on here (ever) let alone read the comments. Get your facts straight before you start name calling.

Once again for all you morons, I DO NOT COMMENT ON CL.

  9. Foodgeek Says:

Wow. The problem of people impersonating other posters on this comment board must be worse than I had imagined.

  10. JimATL Says:

If this is what the AC boards are like, I am glad they are keeping them open and this nonsense stops at CL.

  11. Foodgeek Says:

No, the AC boards are nothing like this because the people who are saying insulting things to me here were banned from the boards years ago, mainly for pulling antics while changing their screen names over and over.

It seems this is a familiar theme on this comment board over here now.
