Cliff’s Top 10 Favorite Restaurants Countdown: Number 10
October 12th, 2009 by Cliff Bostock in Restaurants
Pura Vida is the stage for recent “Top Chef” contestant Hector Santiago to perform his avant-garde magic with tapas. No other chef in the city gets quite as successfully crazy with the form. Faves have included the duck confit with caramelized plantains and steamed coconut buns filled with pork belly, cabbage and pickled chilies.
Favorite dish: Santiago’s mofongo, a Puerto Rican specialty, was my absolute favorite here for years. 656 N. Highland Ave. 404-870-9797. www.puravidatapas.com
We will be counting down Cliff’s Top 10 Favorites every day between now and Oct. 21, the day our Food Issue 2009 launches. Check back tomorrow for Number 9!

Love this place. Had both of those faves just the other night. Great to see Santiago get the respect he deserves.

Sucks..
Maybe it was the time that I went, but this place is not on the top of my list. I went with a bunch of friends and we ordered nearly everything on the menu.
The presentation was great, as is the atmosphere.. but the food is very dull and bland. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone, but then again first impressions go a long way with me.

Go back to Arby’s because my food, and the food of 7 others was pretty to look at but had no taste? Umm.. hmm.. actually, you’re right. I should have gone to Arby’s & gotten something more filling :)
