The 42nd Annual Moonshine Festival
Fri., Oct. 23- Sun., 25, 8 am-5 pm
Downtown Dawsonville will be holding its annual Moonshine Festival this weekend. You can come and explore Dawson County’s historical prohibition era, when many flocked to hiding in the Northeast Georgia Mountains to make moonshine. Admission is FREE and all proceeds for the festival go to Kare for Kids. There will be a number of activities, including a tour of an old moonshine still and lots of entertainment.
The Corner Pub’s Butt Cook Off
Sat., Oct. 24
This is Decatur’s The Corner Pub’s Fifth Annual Butt Cook Off. Judging for the cook off begins at 4pm, followed by FREE sampling of the foods. 627 D East College Ave. 404-377-0603.
Virginia-Highland Chili Pepper Festival
Sat., Oct. 24
For the first time Virginia-Highland will be holding a Chili Pepper Festival. Restaurants, The Original El Taco, DBA Barbecue and Mali Thai & Sushi Bar, will be serving up some chili pepper-themed food. The event will take place in the El Taco parking lot from 4-11 p.m. Admission is $5 in advance, $10 at the door.
Georgia Aquarium’s Aqua Vino
Thurs., Oct. 29
The Fourth Annual Aqua Vino at the Georgia Aquarium is coming up. This is an event for adults to come and mingle as they taste more than 200 wines and gourmet food presented by 25 of Atlanta’s chefs and restaurants. Tickets for the event are $150 and go toward the Correll Center for Aquatic Animal Health, the aquarium’s veterinary facility.
