Omnivore - Was it really Chang’s food?

Tom Maicon reports on Chang-based foodie hysteria

Tom Maicon, who first reported the planned but soon-aborted return of David Chang to Tasty China, has posted an interesting commentary on his site, AtlantaCuisine.com. Apparently, the hysteria over Chang’s visit last Sunday night was so intense that  foodies raced to Tasty China from points as far away as New York City and Washington, D.C. They assumed, Maicon reports, that they were eating Chang’s food when they were not.

Here’s part of what Maicon observed while he attended the private dinner for nine which Chang did cook Sunday night:

An ogly, star-struck food blogger went as far as posing in photos with Chang.

A different blogger obsessively raved about food he swore was cooked by Chang, under this assumption only because Chang was working in the kitchen dressed in chef whites. The blogger has since removed his review.

Uh, yes, Chang was whipping up ma la in the kitchen over the weekend, but not for wishful dining room guests, and certainly not bloggers. He was busy on the other side of the kitchen prepping a belt-loosening 16-course private dinner for nine.

It seems the entire food world has fallen into Chang hysteria.
