Bob Ross: Old Media to New Media

April 23, 2007 at 12:41 pm by Wayne Garcia

My old buddy from the Tampa Tribune, Bob Ross, has landed another writing job, in the wake of being laid off as media movie critic at that paper. He’s contributing posts to Sticks of Fire.

bully for bob. course, blogging isnt a ‘job’ … more like a donation…anyway, overlooked in stories on the trib layoffs was the loss of the very talented, multi award winner artist david o’keefe. he snubbed the sptimes a few years back to stay loyal to the trib….now, trib to o’keefe: thanks, now get out.

    Some bloggers do get paid.
I, too, would be curious to know if Bob’s job is a paid position.
Hope so: He’s one of the smarter writer guys around.

O’Keefe was let go, too? I didn’t know about this.
Another incredibly lame decision by Mother Trib.
Anyone who knows anything about graphic artists knew that O’Keefe was one of the best in the business — some of his Friday Extra covers were extraordinary.
How do they sleep over there at the Trib?

The Tribune isn’t firing on all cylinders and it’s slowly loosing momentum. Twenty something years since I moved to Tampa and I’m down to only reading the Trib on Sundays.

Just a tiny detail. Bob was movie critic, not media critic…
