May 23, 2007 at 3:06 pm by Wayne GarciaSitting in the stand of the sports arena / waiting for the show to begin:
- Good first-person and roudup of Reality Check.
- Lots of attention to state pork, not so much for federal pork.
- I’m so very very proud not to make this list.
- Mr. Thompson, you’re due on the set.
- Low GOP turnout in ‘08.

Re: the low GOP turnout. . . . . What’s really sad about this situation Wayne is that the Republican politicians and party operatives don’t see this train wreck about to occur.

Jim — you are right, there does not appear to be the sense of imminent trouble, maybe because they still have a few strong presidential contenders at the top of the ticket, but deeper down the bench things are going to be tough.

Think that appearance is only on the surface. I know the rank and file republicans are sensing it and realize 08′ is going to be a tough year, no matter who is at the top of the ticket.
Of course the party guys are going to see things in a rosy way, that’s their job. If they come across as defeatist they will have trouble fundraising and geting credible candiates to run for the seats lower on the ticket.

No doubt, there is no campaign or party staffer who can sound the claxon about possible troubles.
