July 2, 2007 at 4:50 pm by Wayne GarciaOK, so I walk into the Contemporary Hotel’s vast convention center facility in WDW in Orlando Saturday and who is the first person I literally run into? A tropically garbed Tampa City Councilman Charlie Miranda, was taking his daily two-mile hike on the carpeted lobby.
We exchanged pleasantries in Spanish, appropriate for an afternoon at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials annual conference, where the seven leading Democratic presidential candidates were addressing the membership.
Also seen at the event from Tampa Bay were Frank Sanchez, a Barack Obama supporter, and Clay Phillips, chief of staff for Tampa Congresswoman Kathy Castor.
