For all of your insanely specific household and technology needs, I’ve found that QVC and HSN are disturbingly entertaining.

Franki: Are you referring to my personal “insanely specific household and technology needs” or were you doing an announcer voice and speaking to the general public?
And do you know if QVC sells a Swiss Army Hoodie? I could use one of those…

The exit polling I saw for Hillary was ugly. Obama cut into Hillary’s advantage with women. Hillary only did better with seniors and people who valued experience. The irony is Obama has more experience (going back to Illinois) as a legislator than Hillary.
What’s interesting is the independent voters leaned heavily for Democratic candidates. If that holds true in November than the GOP is toast. This goes beyond McCain. Republicans will lose more House seats.
I pose this question to Wayne: is John Boehner as stupid as I think he is? What exactly is his victory strategy for November? The guy is still running around claiming that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. How is that going to win seats?

Most interesting numbers I saw out of Wisconsin:
Votes for a Democrat: 1,110,000.
Votes for a Republican: 410,000.
It seems like there are a hell of lot more Democrats than Republicans this cycle, and if this keeps up the GOP is toast come November.

Might those numbers just indicate a feeling that the GOP nod is pretty much a given at this point?

Joe:
I was using my “QVC host/announcer/inventer” voice in the post above. I have an affinity for imitating these quacks at random intervals throughout the day.
I don’t know about the Swiss Army hoodie, but they do have a great set of hangers that will “change your life!” (they come in Espresso, Nautical Blue, Lemon Drop, Tiffany blue, Ribbon Pink, Pumpkin Orange, and 17 other exciting colors!)
If I had known sooner that reorganizing my closet would solve all of my problems, I would have listened to my mom when she told me to clean my room.

Hey Noneya, that’s a fair point. Let’s check the number of total votes for each party in some other races that were held when the Republican nomination was still in doubt:
New Hampshire
Dems: 280185
Reps: 207153
South Carolina
Dems: 530322
Reps: 442909
Missouri
Dems: 820453
Reps: 584618
Georgia
Dems: 1344572
Reps: 954462
With the exception of New Hampshire, these are all states where Bush beat Kerry in 2004. There are a few states where more Republicans voted, with Arizona (McCain’s home state) and Florida (Where the Republicans had roughly 10% more voters but the Dems didn’t run an actual primary) springing immediately to mind. By and large, though, the Dems are pulling from a much larger electoral pool than the Reps this cycle and that spells doom for McCain in November.

Franki: Can I get that in 1970s green? It’s my favorite color.
February 21st, 2008 at 5:27 pm
Joe, users have been writing in for months about the avocado green. I’m happy to say that it will be added to the next collection, due out in the summer of 2008. Also look out for the matching suitcase, with over 5,000 cubic inches of space.
Because no one should have to live without a suitcase that doesn’t match their hangers.
QVC. A personal addiction.

Do you have a favorite shopping channel, Franki? Is QVC better than that Shop NBC thing? Is HSN really the king? And who sells the best artwork?
February 22nd, 2008 at 2:46 am
Lemme break it down:
In my humble opinion, HSN is the best all-purpose channel. They have a wider variety of products (not just household and beauty items, which is mostly what QVC sells). They sell some dependable and recognizable brands, like Emeril and Wolfgang Puck kitchen products, and Philips and Sony electronics.
If, however, it is cosmetics you seek (as I’m sure it is, Joe), QVC is your channel. They have exclusives with Bobbi Brown, smashbox, Clinique, philosophy, and Bare Escentuals.
I don’t have the same familiarity with Shop NBC that I do with HSN and QVC, but they seem to be similar to HSN in that they offer a wide array of products.
Ease of transaction easily goes to QVC, which, I think, also has the best website design. Easy to navigate to the exact product or brand you’re looking for.
As for artwork, I can’t say I know too much about buying any on my beloved shopping channels, but that definitely doesn’t mean that there aren’t millions of people tuning in to get “amazing, once-in-a-lifetime” deals on artwork every day.
I’m sorry if you weren’t prepared for this overflow of information, haha.

I am in awe of your home shopping knowledge, Franki. I think you owe it to yourself to yourself to investigate that Shop NBC thing. Is it all just 30 Rock T-shirts and ER scrubs? Or do they have several full lines of B-list-actor approved products?
