Brian Blair’s election day message

A Special Election Day Message From Brian Blair
Dear Friend,
As a child, I remember the feeling I had on Saturday morning heading out to the baseball or football field to play. It was Game Day and the anticipation of the start of the game was exciting and euphoric.
As I awoke early this morning, I felt very much the same sense of anticipation and excitement. Today is Election Day! A uniquely American day! The day we each have the opportunity, right and duty to cast our vote for those we choose to represent us, either in local, state or federal government.
As your county commissioner for the past four years, I have fought for lower taxes, less government, more personal freedom and personal responsibility. I have represented our shared, traditional values of faith, family and community.
Together, we have been successful, lowering taxation, axing the stormwater tax and reducing government waste. We have created senior and children’s zones, providing safety and security for our most vulnerable citizens. We have led the charge to identify predators, posting their photos and information in our county parks so children and their parents can keep themselves and their families safe. As I said, together, we have accomplished a great deal.
However, there is much work left to do. The difference between my campaign and my opponent’s campaign could not be more clear. The St. Petersburg Times has reported that he has waged a campaign that has taken the low road and cheap shots. He has sent out false, misleading and inaccurate information attempting to manipulate this election. The St. Petersburg Times has also reported that my opponent has received the support and endorsement of some of the most liberal special interest groups in our country.
On the other side, we have spoken about the issues, presented our record of accomplishments and stayed positive throughout this campaign. We have stood firm in our support of traditional family values. We have presented solutions and we have taken our message straight into the living rooms and community centers of our county.
So today, as you head to your polling place, I ask that you send a message to the liberal special interests and the out of town political consultants who use shadow political groups to distribute their divisive, misleading, inaccurate and negative campaign attacks. I ask you to take a stand for our shared traditional values of faith, family and community. I ask you to consider the endorsements I have received from our community’s first responders, the Police Benevolent Association, the Fraternal Order of Police, Tampa Firefighters and Hillsborough County Firefighters. I ask you to remember our record of accomplishments, cutting taxes and reducing wasteful government spending.
If you have family and friends who have not yet voted, please remind them to get out and vote.
Today, I respectfully ask you for your vote! Because this election, your vote can make all the difference!
I had missed it, but the Times did indeed write those criticisms cited above. Just checking.
