Wilson showed a hilariously funny gift for invective in her Oscar dissections of yesteryear, especially when 'Titanic' won. For the past few years, though, I get a vibe from her that she has mixed feelings about celebrity snark, although as though she thinks it's Part of the Problem with our culture. It's like she's become more thematically serious and less laugh-out-loud funny.

I love how Cintra Wilson says it's too easy to take shots at Oscar and proceeds to do just that. Snarky and witty, Wilson almost never pulls a punch, which is what made her take fun and hollow all at once.
I like taking shots at the Oscars as much as the next one, but sheesh, if there ever were an opportunity to grade on a curve, this would be the one. You could see it in the gowns: beautiful, simple, inoffensive, maybe even a bit safe and yes dull. But who knew we were even going to have a show a month ago.
As someone who thought this was a rather tame set of nominees in a year of really good but few great films, I thought the evening was pleasantly democratic and fair even if some of picks didn't pan out. "Falling Slowly" winning for Best Original Song made everything just, especially beating out those schlocky and predictable Disney tunes from "Enchanted." (Here's hoping that Stewart's bringing back Marketa Irglova sets a precedent.) I didn't see a "crime" committed the whole night, just some pleasant and unpleasant surprises.
