I think it’s impossible to cover all this material in one post but you’ve done pretty well. I agree with most of what you’ve said except for two things. 1. I believe Static Shock did very well in that most young people know who he is. 2. While the depiction of most Black Superheroes is relatively stereotypical, there were quite a few more gems than what you’ve found. I do like the Verb guy. Schoolhouse rock didn’t leave out the Black people.

I`m a lifelong fan of comic books and if you were to ask me who I thought was the best black superhero I would say Black Panther.Far too many black superheroes in comics were one-dimensional in their portrayals.The genesis for their creation was based more on stereotypical depictions of what a black person should be.

Great article. A lot of this (Cage) I’d never heard of. I used to watch Static Shock back in the day.
