By Wendi Jonassen

You really can’t call it a successful weekend without mocking pretentious rich people with inappropriate blasphemy. LOADED GUNS VOL. 3: THE MOVIE can deliver that and more, all under the innocent pretense of sketch comedy. This slap-your-knee and laugh-out-loud comedy also promises to mock waterboarding, the South and fashion shows with fake mustaches. Diana Brown, the managing director, describes it as “brutally funny, kind of like we punched you in the face and ran away laughing.” Count us in. $7-$12. 9:30 p.m. Plaza Theatre, 1049 Ponce de Leon Ave. 404-873-1939. www.twinheadtheatre.org.

There are a few bizarre little teasers for the show they’re floating around, and here’s one …

The Fox Theatre’s organ, otherwise known as Mighty Mo, reverberates throughout the theater today, DEC. 18, for the holiday sing-along LARRY, CAROLS AND MO with the Atlanta Boy Choir and the Ebenezer Baptist Church Choir. A screening of the Christmas classic Miracle on 34th Street follows, after which the music continues with organist Larry Douglas Embury and the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus. It’s fair to say that with all the holiday cheer, the audience will leave wanting mo’. Free. 6 p.m. 660 Peachtree St. 404-881-2100. www.foxtheatre.org.

See & Do: Poetry: Ani DiFranco

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

By Mosi Reeves and Debbie Michaud

New York folk icon ANI DIFRANCO has had a career well-charted by the media. A musical prodigy at the age of 9, she went on to become a cult hero in the ’90s and built her own multimedia empire, Righteous Babe Records, yet she remains little understood by those who aren’t part of her following. So her recently released greatest-hits collection, Canon, is a welcome entry point into the hugely influential artist’s discography. It may even prompt newcomers to see her perform Tues., NOV. 13, at the Variety Playhouse, where her fans will undoubtedly show up in full force. Before her musical performance, DiFranco appears at Decatur’s Wordsmith Books for a discussion of and reading from Verses, her new book of poetry, which also includes paintings by the singer/songwriter. Rebecca Hyman, professor of feminist theory, English and literature at Oglethorpe University, helps lead the conversation about DiFranco’s motivations and techniques. Discussion: Free. 1 p.m. 141 E. Trinity Place, Decatur. 404-378-7166. www.wordsmithsbooks.com. Concert: $36. 8 p.m. 1099 Euclid Ave. 404-524-7354. www.variety-playhouse.com.
