Summer is not only notorious for turning up the heat, it’s also the season of stellar music festivals. This year Atlanta is kicking it off with the SOCO MUSIC EXPERIENCE – sorry, kids, this one is for the 21-and-up crowd. With an eclectic lineup that includes Against Me! (pictured), Ghostland Observatory, Supersuckers, Ryan Shaw and Bang Camaro, you can expect a diverse crowd with one common goal: to have a good time. The SoCo train rolls into town Sat., MAY 17, and sets up shop at Centennial Olympic Park. Boasting two stages, the SoCo & Lime Dome with DJ Star Eyes manning the turntables, and multiple vendors serving up food, drinks and more, there really is no excuse to miss out. Looking to groove in a relaxed and family-friendly setting? THE DAY CELEBRATION is just the ticket and well worth the hike to its location in the real Buckhead, Ga. This three-day music festival, continuing Fri., MAY 9, benefits five Georgia-based charities and has limited ticket sales to promote an intimate setting. Performers include DubConscious, the Lee Boys (right), Col. Bruce & the Quark Alliance, Blueground Undergrass and more. Through May 10. Free-$75.
