Calling all bitches!
Friday, June 6th, 2008Get ready to face reality in the next two weekends with a couple of reality TV casting calls.
For all you bad girls out there, Bunim-Murray Productions is looking
for seven women (not ladies) with attitude (problems) for the 3rd season of Oxygen’s hit series “The Bad Girls Club” — it’s like VH1’s “Charm School,” but with more heart and fewer references to Flavor Flav. So if you like throwing cat fights and saying words that need bleeping — and it’s hurting your relationships — you could benefit from living in a mansion with six back-talking girls on the Oxygen network’s highest-rated original series.
Casting for “The Bad Girls Club” is Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Rock Bottom Brewery in Buckhead Plaza. You must be 21 or older (and wildly sassy) to apply. For more information, go to Bunim-Murray.com.
Good girls and boys needn’t fret, though. If you’ve got a great dog — well behaved, friendly and completely obedient — good for you, but you’re barking up the wrong tree. Ricochet Television is looking for bad dogs for a new series based on a hit U.K. show. Misbehaving mutts, purebred punks, alliterative alpha-dogs — all are welcome to come enlist in this doggy boot camp from the producers of “Supernanny,” “The Alaska Experiment,” and “The Real Housewives of New York City.” The casting call is Saturday, June 14, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Atlantic Station’s Central Park. To apply, visit their website or call 877-44-DOGGY.
Summer is about here, and so is Mattress Factory’s Summer Open Studios. The semi-annual event features painting, photography and sculpture from more than a dozen local artists. Admission is free, and all art is available for purchase.
The Atlanta Civic Center has a big New Year’s weekend planned. CEDRIC THE ENTERTAINER headlines Sat., DEC. 29, with additional performances from fellow comedian Jay Lamont and music from ’70s R&B notable Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. Maze and Beverly return to the stage New Year’s Eve, alongside 2008 Grammy nominee Chaka Khan, with Bruce Bruce providing the funny. Saturday: $76-$96. 8 p.m. Monday: $81-$101. 8 p.m. 395 Piedmont Ave. 404-523-6275.
Atlanta probably won’t see snow this holiday season, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be ice. Centennial Olympic Park’s ICE SKATING RINK is the city’s only outdoor rink. With seasonal lights and music, and ice to support 250 skaters, there’s enough winter fun for everyone. The rink is open today, DEC. 24, so grab a friend, rent some skates and practice your triple salchow in the landmark park. Through Jan. 6. $6-$8. Hours vary; closed Christmas Day. 265 Park Ave. 404-223-4412.
Santa Clauses are coming to town for Midtown’s annual SANTA PUB CRAWL, where the holiday cheer continues until last call. Come in costume, bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots and greet the season with dozens of other naughty and nice Atlanta Santas. The jolliness kicks off today, DEC. 8, at Front Page News and covers six more bars and clubs throughout the night, ending up at Opera. Santas must be 21 or older. Free. 4:45 p.m.-midnight. 1104 Crescent Ave. 678-361-0093.
