Cypress Hill at SCMX

Cypress Hill knows how the work the crowd, whether its Lollopalooza or the SoCo Music Experience. Since they blazed on the scene in the early ‘90s with a tough, dark and ominous world of hard knocks and high times, the popular rap act has released a string of acclaimed albums, each with its own distinct sound. Their style strikes a universal chord with rap and metal fans alike, while depicting often-unsettling vignettes of alienation, tough streets and shady characters. Founder B-Real spoke with CL Music Editor Rodney Carmichael and Lee Valentine Smith just before they closed out Saturday night’s SCMX with a rousing set of fist-pumping anthems, including their massive hit “Insane In The Brain.”
