WRFG 89.3 FM, Atlanta’s oldest community radio station, celebrated it’s 35th year of broadcasting Saturday on the streets surrounding the Little Five Points Community Center. The streets were lined with vendors, face painters, a moonwalk, and a diverse crowd of the station’s fans.

The 4 on the Floor exhibit reception on Saturday at The Gallery at East Atlanta Tattoo included two of the participating artists — Dave MacDowell (giving the thumb’s-up signal) and Kennesaw native Jessica Elaine Blinkhorn (in wheelchair, with her peeps) — and others who braved the heat and mosquitoes. (More Citronella!) The other two artists, Emma Mount and Brandi Read, like MacDowell were from out of town and were unable to attend.

Rarely has the not-so-almighty dollar carried so much weight (recently) as it did Thursday during the Taste of East Atlanta neighborhood restaurant celebration. Hundreds showed up for the event, in which guests purchased strands of $1 tickets at the nearby farmer’s market and went door-to-door, sampling bites of food from the East Atlanta Village’s best.
