WRFG 89.3 FM birthday block party

WRFG 89.3 FM, Atlanta’s oldest community radio station, celebrated it’s 35th year of broadcasting Saturday on the streets surrounding the Little Five Points Community Center. The streets were lined with vendors, face painters, a moonwalk, and a diverse crowd of the station’s fans.

Guitar Hero competition at Hard Rock

Atlanta’s best Guitar Hero players gathered at the Hard Rock Cafe Wednesday night to battle it out on the big screen. The top four players nationwide will win a trip to the finale event where they’ll meet Steven Tyler and be entered to win a motorcycle he helped design.

Fox Theatre Institute Launch

On Friday, the Atlanta History Center hosted a celebration of the launch of the Fox Theatre Institute. The aim of the organization is to aid in the restoration of Georgia theaters and help revitalize art communities throughout Georgia.

4 on the Floor, and more in the halls

The 4 on the Floor exhibit reception on Saturday at The Gallery at East Atlanta Tattoo included two of the participating artists — Dave MacDowell (giving the thumb’s-up signal) and Kennesaw native Jessica Elaine Blinkhorn (in wheelchair, with her peeps) — and others who braved the heat and mosquitoes. (More Citronella!) The other two artists, Emma Mount and Brandi Read, like MacDowell were from out of town and were unable to attend.

Cheerwine launch at the Sheraton

Taste of East Atlanta bucks the trend

Rarely has the not-so-almighty dollar carried so much weight (recently) as it did Thursday during the Taste of East Atlanta neighborhood restaurant celebration. Hundreds showed up for the event, in which guests purchased strands of $1 tickets at the nearby farmer’s market and went door-to-door, sampling bites of food from the East Atlanta Village’s best.
