Fusion! Atlanta at Center Stage
Saturday, November 22nd, 2008Fusion! is an Atlanta-based project founded by Emory students whose goal is to bring together people of different cultural backgrounds through art, dance, fashion, and music. This year’s competition featured dance teams from several Georgia universities, including Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Emory, and Morehouse.

Friday, November 21st, 2008On Thursday night, Eyedrum hosted a concert supporting the School of Americas Watch, an organization that seeks to close the US Army School of Americas through protests, vigils, and demonstrations. Dozens of bands, songwriters, and storytellers took the stage to support the cause. The annual vigil at Fort Benning takes place this weekend in Columbus, Georgia.

Thursday, November 20th, 2008Over 1000 people rallied in front of the Georgia Capitol in Atlanta Saturday, November 15, 2008 in protest of California’s Proposition 8, which bans gay marriage in California. The protest in Atlanta was part of hundreds of demonstrations across the country Saturday in support of legalizing Gay marriage in the United States. Speakers included Representative Karla Drenner, Georgia’s only openly gay legislature. The lively crowd spilled onto the street in front of the Capitol and waved homemade signs and rainbow flags.
