4 on the Floor, and more in the halls

Monday, July 21st, 2008

The 4 on the Floor exhibit reception on Saturday at The Gallery at East Atlanta Tattoo included two of the participating artists — Dave MacDowell (giving the thumb’s-up signal) and Kennesaw native Jessica Elaine Blinkhorn (in wheelchair, with her peeps) — and others who braved the heat and mosquitoes. (More Citronella!) The other two artists, Emma Mount and Brandi Read, like MacDowell were from out of town and were unable to attend.

Barack supporters ‘Hungry for Change’

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

At locations throughout Atlanta, dozens of Sen. Barack Obama supporters held bake sales as part of the “Hungry for Change” fundraising effort. Considering one group in southwest Atlanta raised $300 by 3 p.m., there’s an easy explanation why Obama opted out of the public campaign finance system earlier in the week. He’s got a finance system all his own. “Everybody’s showing up with $2, $3,” said volunteer Karen Ceesay at the Southwest Atlanta location, or “Swatts!,” as she called it.
