BET Awards red carpet
October 20th, 2008 by Tara-Lynne Pixley in EventsThe BET Awards were held in Atlanta at the Civic Center Oct. 18 and, like any red carpet event, it was a visual feast and fiasco. The throngs of press, publicists and hangers-on could have filled a high school football stadium. But instead they were packed behind ropes and in designated areas.
Rubbing shoulders with stars while feigning disinterest is an art form that most in attendance Saturday seem to have perfected. The screams that occasionally came from outside the heavily-secured gates would lead one to think that being inside those gates is what some dreams are made of. But the reality, at least from this photographer’s point of view, is sadly more mundane — glittering and glossy as much of celebrity is, but tiring nonetheless.
