When hip-pop acts the likes of these industry contenders come together, it is almost always a loud, colorful and beautiful thing. Janelle Monae jump-started Wednesday night’s performance at The Tabernacle with her signature antics and stomach-humming voice. N.E.R.D. followed it up with so much jumping around that, between them and the also height-achieving crowd, the floor rarely stopped shaking.

David Byrne, lead singer and songwriter of the Talking Heads, performed at Chastain Park Saturday night. He played songs from his Talking Heads days that he co-wrote with Brian Eno and introduced new songs from his recently released solo album Everything That Happens Will Happen Today.
