Cut Copy and The Presets at The Masquerade

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

A pair of Aussie bands bearing electro-rock, and synthesized punk-pop plowed through two-and-a-half hours of music at The Masquerade Saturday night.

The Presets, a Sydney-based due made up of Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes, played a pounding set, with Moyes alternating between the effects programming and drum set.

The Melbourne-based, 5-piece Cut Copy mellowed things (just a tad bit), playing pretty much everything in their repertoire, including songs from their most recent album, In Ghost Colours. Though they played a very energized set, it would’ve been that much more riveting had they played through one or two (or three) song changes (like the album suggests) instead of stopping after each one. Regardless, it was a smashing show.
