Top 10: Albums of 1967
July 5th, 2007 by Wade Tatangelo in News
Perusing Rolling Stone’s The 40 Essential Albums of 1967 it’s hard to fathom a more satisfying year in rock ‘ ‘n’ roll history. Fans were treated to everything from mind-blowing guitar rock (Hendrix) and sublime soul (Aretha) to strangely beautiful psychedelia (Jefferson Airplane) and nascent country-rock (Dylan, The Byrds). Oh, yeah, and The Beatles put out a pretty good record that year, too.
Because we love lists and creating controversy, Senior Editor Eric Snider and I have submitted our own Top 10s for ‘67, based as much on historical impact as on what we actually find ourselves listening to in 2007.
Snider’s Top 10
1. Jimi Hendrix: Are You Experienced
2. The Beatles: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
3. Jimi Hendrix: Axis: Bold as Love
4. Aretha Franklin: I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You

6. The Doors: Strange Days
7. The Byrds: Younger Than Yesterday
8. Beach Boys: Wild Honey
9. Moby Grape: Moby Grape
10. Otis Redding & Carla Thomas: King & Queen
